The festival consists of an exhibition, lectures, workshops and film showcases in relation to the theme that changes every year. The theme for this year’s exhibition is 'Energy Architecture', which investigates the current and future crisis of energy from diverse architectural perspectives.

줄바꿈

Energy Architecture

Architecture takes up about 40% of the world’s energy consumption which involves living at homes, shops, buildings, roads, and cities. What we call a built environment is made of complex layers of energy. Buildings are responsible for one-third of the world’s CO₂ emissions, and 40% if we add up our industry. Architecture, in a sense, is an accumulated form of energy.

줄바꿈

Architecture as energy form directly and indirectly contributes to the current environmental issues of our times, such as depletion of resources, global warming, climate crisis, and air pollution. We confront these issues with questions of how we produce and consume energy from everyday life to the buildings, cities, and power plants.

줄바꿈

Energy Architecture intends to approach energy as general ideas and principles, rather than to describe its technicality for an already complex theme. Most of the time energy ought to become either abstract or technical, making it harder to be conceived by the public. This exhibition promotes to bring the kind of consensus that we can discuss in basics and principles, while alluding to the larger layers of complexities hidden behind the scene. Rather than to suggest the directions or solutions, the focus is to present a spectrum of experience to the theme of energy and architecture.
